Smith

The Family of SMITH were settled as tenants and lairds of the
Parish of Strathblane at Craigend, north of Glasgow, for more
than four hundred years, until 1745.
The origin of the name derives from their occupations as the
Smiths and Armorers to the barony of Mugdock in Strathblane,
Stirlingshire.  Septs are also associated in Ayrshire.

The genealogy of our SMITH family
begins in Ayrshire, Scotland

At least one direct descendant line emigrated to
Lamlash, Isle of Arran, Buteshire, Scotland.

Other direct descendant lines emigrated through
Australia to settle in New Zealand,
while still other descendant lines remained in
Ayrshire and various locales in Scotland.
