Morgan Emmett O'BRIEN farmed the original family farm, where his father and grandfather had farmed before him, at Concession 1, Lot 15 on the 2nd line of Tecumseth Twp. Ontario, purchased by Morgan O'BRIEN, Sr. from James Doyle c1840 - It was from this farm that the land for St. Margaret Queen of Scotland (Tuam) Church and cemetery had previously been purchased by the Archdiocese from James Doyle in 1834.
"St. Margaret Queen of Scotland Church" Tuam
St. Margaret's, Tuam, the first and only Catholic church in Tecumseth Township, Simcoe County, was constructed between 1834 and 1838 and closed its doors for the final time in 1952.
As it appeared in 1970, abandoned and boarded up, two years before being demolished
* Mary Ann Elizabeth (Mae)
O'BRIEN and her husband Christopher Basil McGUIRE farmed on Lot
31, the west half of 10th concession of King Township. This was
the original "Tyson Mill Farm" on the Schomberg River
outside of Lloydtown, Ontario once owned by Isaac Tyson who, in
1837, purchased the grist mill in Lloydtown built by Jesse Lloyd.
Some of the original log structure of the old mill and the
stonework of the mill dam on this farm could still be seen as
late as the 1960's. The Schomberg River became almost non
existent when the Holland Marsh was drained in the 1920's for
market garden farming. Today it exists as nothing more than a
small creek running through some of the original farms.
